Pre-wedding photoshoot in Flinders Mornington Peninsula engagement | Azra and Piper

So, you have started planning your wedding day but you are not too sure what’s next? Time to consider a pre-wedding photoshoot or engagement photoshoot. Pre-wedding photography is becoming more and more popular in Australia. There are a number of reasons why couples are choosing to have a session before their wedding day: the images can be used as content on their social media accounts, they can also be used in wedding invitation websites and traditional invitations, and also on guest books or displayed on their wedding day. It’s also a great opportunity for us to chat about your wedding day and getting to know each other before your day.

An adventurous pre-wedding photoshoot or engagement photoshoot is a very relaxed, organic and fun time for my couples, but there still needs to be a little planning involved. Here are a few things that you should keep in mind when starting to plan your session.

Let’s book your pre-wedding photoshoot

This one can be easy! just drop me a note through my contact page, including the vibes you want for your shoot: is it urban, park, wild, beach? all of the above? Keep in mind that the wedding photography packages include an engagement photoshoot within the price.

Some things to keep in mind when researching your photographer are their style, their location, your budget and their availability. Most photographers will show their best work on their website, so ask them for full galleries of clients to get a feel for what their work looks like.

Decide on the location for your pre-wedding photoshoot:

We are very lucky to have a number of great locations across Victoria. I love shooting in new locations so I am always open to suggestions. I am able to send you short samples of different locations to give you an idea on the variety int he images that can be achieved during your session. I love traveling, and if you are considering an adventurous photoshoot please remember practical things like a second pair of flat shoes or wear comfortable hicking shoes.

Aesthetics of your pre-wedding photoshoot:

So we have your photographer (aka MOI), we have the location, and now: what do we wear?? Start by selecting your outfit. Depending on the time of the year (most likely autumn/winter/spring - as most weddings tend to be celebrated during spring or summer) try to choose layers when possible as it will allow us to have a greater variety of images. During most sessions I encourage couples to move around so keep that in mind as it can be hard to sit on the floor if you are wearing a very tight dress. Try to stick to neutral colours, and avoid writing on shirts.

I hope these steps will help you to get on your way and book a great pre-wedding photoshoot where you have a ton of fun and create great memories of this milestone as a couple.
